Bernat Satin Yarn
The colors available were yummy and the subtle sheen of the yarn just made me want to reach out and touch it. In fact, I couldn’t stop touching it…it is so soft and luxurious that I thought the retail price of $2.29/skein was a typo.
It’s hard to believe that there isn’t some silk or cashmere content to this yarn, but the truth is it’s 100% acrylic. It is both machine washable and dryable and is manufactured with no dyelot making it very easy to use and care for.
The hand is soft and not at all bulky. I have used it in both knit and crocheted projects and it always produces a clean, well-defined stitch. I find it extremely satisfying to work with and it always glides through my needles like butter.
Bernat Satin comes in assorted solids and ombres (multi-color) in 3.5 ounce skeins. It’s a good weight for camisoles, light sweaters and scarves. Since it comes in more colors than the pastel baby yarns, you could stitch up something quite unique and modern.
The only downside to the yarn is that occasionally the skeins aren’t rolled well and it took me a while to untangle to get it to unspool properly. Fortunately, that doesn’t happen often so it’s a minor complaint. In my mind, it’s worth an occasional tangle to work with a yarn that’s soft, stitches well, and is budget-priced
